Being infamous procrastinators, we have missed out on many chances for unique events and experiences by waiting til the last minute and it was too late, but when hearing another Moosefest was being arranged after a 5 year long hiatus, while we were thinking we missed that train all together and we were never going to get the chance to meet with other Northern Exposure fans and feed off their energy and love for the show as well as scheduled festivities by the awesome organizers, we knew the first thing to do was to register and buy our tickets and base the trip around that alone so that the monetary obligation would trump anything else we could think of that would hinder our dream of attending. Though the tickets weren't cheap, the organizers were kind enough to reserve us the 2 tickets while we paid for one at a time so as to not take a $350 hit at once. I just want to say they were very accommodating and polite, hence the reason i call them 'Awesome Organizers'.
So we secured our Registration in March and the next step was to secure lodging for our stay.
After a few phone calls and quite a few online inquiries to the local Bed and Breakfasts in the area (since we wanted to stay as close to the Brick Tavern and downtown Roslyn as possible to get the full experience) we finally utilized the airbnb website which stands for 'Air bed and breakfast' which was started by some college kids literally renting extra space for folks passing through and offering airbeds, since then the site has taken off and opened the door to people having space to rent and people needing a place to stay worldwide. After starting an account and viewing the unconventional options not found on your regular search engines, we happened to find a place as close to the Brick Tavern as possible and immediately made the reservation, Turns out we're right next to the KBHR studio from the show as well, and we really couldn't ask for anything better.
So no matter where you travel, if you need lodging it would be worth looking into. Though i've heard people turned off by it because some places you rent are not private, some are a spare room in an occupied home, but you can filter those options out and only browse entire homes rather than just a room of an occupied home.
If you're interested in trying out or browsing what www.airbnb.com has to offer, then consider using the discount code: DSPECTRE It will give you $25 off your first booking, and it will give me the same for my next booking.
